    How exactly can one serve people without trying to make a profit? I don't see how the two are at all at odds with each other.

    Non profit organizations serve people without trying to make a profit.

    But it's not necessarily a matter of eliminating profit, I think the idea is that you have a system where profit isn't valued above people. Plenty of examples/horror stories are in the film, illustrating what it looks like when profit motive overtakes basic compassion.

    But the thing is, in a free market - and I recognize that we don't have one - you can't make a profit without being compassionate. If you aren't serving people's needs, you won't make a profit, period. And maximizing profit is how one most efficiently allocates resources.

    The problem with our system is not the drive for profit, but rather government interference in the market.

    By the way, I work for a non-profit, and I can tell you that we woudl serve people's needs a lot better if we were a regular company.
