Film School Rejects: Discuss: Will Fans Still Be Hot for Boondock Saints 2?

  • Ryan O'Brien · 1 year ago
I am big time excited! However I just saw this film for the first time 2 months ago. I'd head
about it forever but never got around to it. I loved it! I think a sequel should be good but it's
funny that the accents and mannerisms make the characters. I didn't realize I was watching
Connor McManus on a Season 4 Numbers episode recently or that it was him in a YouTube
vid then I went 'Oh thats Connor. Gotcha'

Better late then never. Unless it blows, then strike my previous statement.

Booooooooo! I'm really not excited for this and I feel like it will take away some of the greatness that the first Boondock Saints deserves. It's been way to long and I can't even think of a storyline that wouldn't seem lame.

I think that Indiana Jones and the Overly Long Title and The X-Files: I Want to Believe have proven that sequels are not timeless and guaranteed. Yes, Indiana Jones made a lot of money, but not as much as people predicted and is now being looked upon as a disappointment by a lot of critics and film bloggers.

I used to be a huge fan of Boondocks Saints, but it really doesn't hold up on multiple viewings.

Troy Duffy's a douchebag. Who the fuck let him back in the door?

I too saw "Overnight" and hence, zero interest.

Asking this question is like asking if a guy is still interested in that attractive blonde that teased and flirted with him for five years until his manhood turned blue, but just when he gave up on hearing her say "she just wanted to be friends," she kisses him and tells him to meet her in her bedroom.

    So, yes, then.

Asking this question is like asking if a guy is still interested in that girl he heard so much about for five years, how hot and sexy she was, how she had a tongue piercing, how she had an equally hot Asian girlfriend whose favorite number was three, and how she was a huge Battlestar Galactica fan... until he finally met her and made it up to her bedroom and into her pants only to realize she had a dick.

    So, no, then.

    Rob Hunter, that was hilarious.

I loved the first film, and am excited for the sequel. But i am apprehensive, the fact that they are bringing Rocco back in the form of flashbacks worries me, as does the introduction of what i'm assuming is a love interest with Julie Benz (not to say she isn't hot, but her character is ruining Dexter right now, i don't need her to ruin this movie as well). But the thing that worries me the most is the absence of Willem Dafoe. His was a great character and it will leave a void.

But, if this does make it to theatres i will go see it, and if it's only on dvd, then i will rent it. My enjoyment of the first one requires me to at least give this a chance

Everybody should stay away from anything Boondock related, and when the movie comes
out (which i hope it will (yet slightly dissapointed to have a sequel)) we will all be happy; not
    jumping with joy.....but happy

Doesn't really hold up in multiple viewings? It doesn't hold up from the jump off the balcony to 5 stories down, but that doesn't mean it's not an awesome flick.

I have wanted a sequel for a while, but the more I think about it, I am unsure. I will see it, buy it, support it, but won't have high expectations. Let's hope it has some good symbology.

Ohhh. Come back more did ya, Duffy? Didn't have enough? This time I'm going to rape you physically, rather than just emotionally and mentally. All Saints Day... Pshhh. Well see about that.

I just hope it's good. Clifton Collins, Jr. is a good/underrated actor. I hope he's a bad guy. Love the Saints and I'm hoping for the best, but sequels are tricky business. Don't fuck it up, Duffy!

That first movie was an extreme badass flick and I can't wait for this one to come out. True saints fans will come out to enjoy it.

    @ Rob Hunter

Your post says, "So, no, then," but your life experience says, "Shrug your shoulders and dive in since you're already there."

Are you claiming that if you're somehow dragged to the theater where All Saints Day is playing already, you'll go to town on it like an Asian lady-man with a surprise downstairs?

Don't lie. We all know when you're lying.

"BoonCock Saints" is such a horrible flick. Who cares about a sequel? Check out the Troy
Duffy documentary "Overnight." Then you'll realize why he should NEVER make another film
    again.

Am I the only one who thought the first movie sucked HARD? I kept hearing about it from friends and classmates for a long time and I thought the poster of the film looked cool. But then I actually took the time to rent this shit fest. Between the ridiculous slow motion upside shooting and william dafoe in drag (something that still gives me nightmares) I would pay good money to make sure this director NEVER MAKES a sequel. Not to mention I saw a preview of that documentary. The guy's a bartender and should go back to making me a dry martini.

I am very keen for the sequel. The film ended in such a way that the story needs to be taken further. I think that the amount of time between films can help the fact that it's a sequel in that the film could stand on its own. Added to the fact that the original cast has returned many sequels kinda suck cos they're a lame attempt to recreate the same chemistry but with different actors. Maybe it'll be different this time. But like most sequels it could be a huge disappointment. But I guess we shall have to wait and see.

One more thing that has been bothering me, how is he going to write in Rocco's character. Didn't he die? At the Yakkaveta house? Or did I blink in the same spot every single time I saw the movie? Any ideas?

I think boondock saints shouldnt be tarnished by a sequel if it doesnt have the original cast. I love the first movie but i dont want the second one to go down in flames. And for all who say the first one sucks 1 why did you watch it and 2 its a cult classic and 3 its one of the top grossing dvds and movies of all time. Troy if your reading this please use the original cast they made the movie what it is. Anyway Boondock Saints Rules
