Film School Rejects: Discuss: Is A Maskless and Bearded Michael Myers Brilliant Or Stupid As Hell?

  • PHiL · 7 months ago
I feel that if Zombie does HIS OWN version of Halloween 2, it'll be good because who want to see a shot-for-shot remake of a movie *cough* Psycho, which I liked and dug it, But this is Halloween. Let Zombie do something of his own, that's the part that makes originality apart from Micheal Bay-ish directors *couch* Marcus Nispel.
Let Zombie do his thing. If you got a problem with this NEW MASK thing that's going around then don't watch the movie. That's all.

I'm not throwing this reply to Rob Hunter, just people in general who balk at someone taking Michael Myers to a place called O-R-I-G-I-N-A-L-I-T-Y. Peace.

Ok so i thought the remake of halloween by rob zombie was cool except for that stupid girl that kept falling over and over to the ground was annoying as hell but the rest of it was ok but making another halloween movie is kinda over doing it by zombie i think he should just stick to making music and quite thinking he's this master mind of horror come on man your house of 1000 corpses sucked and the devil's rejects was alright and didnt make since ugggh... ok so no i think his should be named micheal myers and the search of a new mask and knife ooooooohhh scary LOL

This new Mike Myers looks like my boyfriend's uncle to be quite honest. He's a really nice guy though, just really creepy looking

Sounds like a bad idea. This is a Michael Myers film, not a Grizzly Adams murder mystery. As for the "new mask," we've already seen the early sculpts and it looks like the regular mask all broken and cracked up. Maybe the actual reveal itself is what throws people through a loop, not the mask design.

And to PHiL, I think it is ironic when you talk about bringing "originality" to a remake/reboot of a long spanning franchise.

As for Marcus Nispel and Platinum Dunes, go watch the originals and then watch the remakes. They're most definitely not anywhere even close to being shot-for-shot remakes or even all that close to the originals in style and events.

    Halloween of 1000 Corpses, hooray!

Sorry, but ol' Zombie doesn't seem to get it. The 2 things that make Michael iconic are A: The music (which rumors have swirled that he doesn't plan on using it), and B: The mask. Without those 2 things, this is basically Slasher Movie #4058.

Agreed. This is sacrilege. Freddy has the hat, sweater, and knife glove; Jason has the hockey mask and machete; Michael Myers has the bad Shatner mask.

I still don't understand H2. I thought Michael died in the first one, and that R. Zombie wanted to give the story a more non-supernatural spin. So who is this Michael? Did he somehow survive that last gunshot to his head? Did he come back to life? Also, why would he be mask-less? Wasn't his whole thing about masks? Many things I don't get, but I'll reserve my opinion until I see the final version.

If they wanted a maskless Michael Meyers, couldn't they have just gotten William Shatner to play him?

    well....

I'm sure FSR and everybody else who is complaining-reviews will come flying in after this movies' release.

I'm going to watch it. And you know what...so are most of the people who visit this site and many other clones of movie news websites will.

Well lets see, I didn't go see the remake of Halloween, Loved the original, but Zombie has made more bad movies than good and call me crazy but if I am giving my hard earned dollars to someone it is not going to be for something that is polar opposite from what I normally like.
  • David G · 7 months ago
Agreed. It was one thing when tix were two dollars cheaper. But $10 is too risky to just go see anything. It helps when u can get an idea from websites like this about waht a film is generally about. From the looks of it, Zombie has been getting too much cred from one movie. Then given opps to do a bunch of bad ones. Quinten, anyone?

I was dragged kicking and screeming to this debacle called Halloween. I think Rob needs to go back to music and call it a day. The remake of Hallowwen and H2 will be as bad as the remake of The Day The Earth Stands Still. Now you all know I LOVE ME SOME KEANU REEVES. But the script and the film was just awful. Halloween was just plain awful. Kids are not scared of the original film due to their daily doses of desensitization courtesy of the present media. Hell I still get the creeps by watching the Original Halloween with Ms. Jamie Lee Curtis and The Exorcist 1,2 and 3 with Linda (Regan) Blair.

Robert, if you want to make a Grizzly Adams murder mystery, I'm down to help out

we need to give this a chance before writing off the bearded michael. yes i can agree that michael myers is scary because of the mask, but rob may have something as long as we don't see his face. so i'm going to save my verdict until i see the movie and then i'll either be raving about how bearded michael is awesome or i'll be bitching like everyone else.

I'm there. I dig all the changes and the risks Rob, Tyler, Wayne & co. are taking. This is Rob's sequel to his Halloween and I'm glad the Carpenter stuff has been dropped.

And nothing gets me happier than seeing Tyler Mane play a big, bearded killer berserker again (why I own Troy ;))

So, count me in on opening day. All these changes make me want to see it even more.
