Film School Rejects: Discuss: Does Jake Gyllenhaal Shirtless Cause Excitment?

  • DMuff · 8 months ago
Yeah, I'm not too sure about this one yet, could be horrible or a decent entertaining flick. We shall wait and see.

He looks incredibly silly in these pictures. It's hard to explain but he seems so...clean.

I'm just angry they casted a white guy to play the Prince of Persia. They couldn't have picked a tanned, dark skinned actor? Come the fuck on!

These photos are so funny. Major FAIL. I don't see Jake Gyllenhaal as an action star at all, let alone a Persian!! We may all have a pretty good laugh come 2010.

I have never played the game and I can barely watch Gyllenhaal on the screen. He was okay in Zodiac and good in Donnie Darko. Other than that, I can't watch this emo guy anymore.

So you've seen Brokeback, Proof, and Jarhead? He was fantastic in all three of those, regardless of what you think of the material that he interpreted. October Sky was also great and while I can see you hating a guy for making The Day After Tomorrow and Bubble Boy, let me just say... "Johnny Depp".

Christ, have you seen Dead Man or A Nightmare on Elm Street? You should direct your hatred to him instead if a man's career is gauged only by a few projects.

Oh please, you gotta admit that shirtless photo of Jake makes you drool in a summer heat.

Wow. Was Brendan Frasier busy or something?

yeah i don't know if they capture the game well. the photos doesn't have that dreamy fantastical atmosphere of the games. also i think mohinder from heroes woulda been good as the prince. oh well.

That dude is an atrocious actor. These are just set photos, we have no idea how "fantastical" the atmosphere will be yet.

I'm drool-free. I prefer Viggo Mortensen or Callum Rennie myself.
  • jack2jack · 8 months ago
I second the Viggo vote. Was his plate full during casting of this film? I could imagine some unknown in the opening scenes then Viggo as the adult character.
  • CaptainReg0981 · 8 months ago
I did love the nude scene he was in Eastern Promises.

I think this project is being looked at in the wrong light.

This is supposed to be a fantastical new film kids and adults can watch which is being made in the light of Pirates of the Caribbean. Bruckheimer did a grand job of keeping an eye on Pirates and I have faith in him on this one. Plus, if Gyllenhaal can get that sarcastic way of speaking Dastan had from SoT down, he's fucking gravy and I'll be sold. He already looks pretty neat.

I can tell Jerry will do a good job of the movie.

I have to agree with ABS, he doesn't look Persian. The least they could have done was darken his skin. Also I never played the game but was the Prince that buffed up? I seem to recall him being slimmer and more wiry.

POP is a great game series. Jake is a great actor. Jake as the Prince, however, reeks of more brownface (right up there with blackface and yellowface). Couldn't they get a Persian actor to play the role? He looks nothing like the Prince. Yes, I know, "artistic license," which in this case, like Airbender, translates to "audiences will pay to see a white dude more than some dark unknown." Meh! This is gonna be hokey at the very least.

Could care less about the movie, but I love the pictures. It's about time you concentrated at least a little bit on what women might like. Love Jake and thanks for letting me see more of him, as I probably won't be seeing the movie.
