Film School Rejects: Director Profile: Wes Anderson

You missed the use of music on that list. He uses mostly 60s and 70s/British Invasion/Old School Punk artists. Mark Mothersbaugh contributes to every soundtrack. He also uses numerous montages set to music. Anderson's use of music is one of my favorite things about him.

I am a huge huge fan of Wes and can't wait to read the rest of this series.

Chuck, finally someone who knows Mr. Anderson and what he is about. I didn't really miss his soundtrack brilliance, I just wanted to explain it by more of a film by film approach.

Sorry to be a stickler for accuracy but my older brother, Stephen, is actually the namesake for Owen Wilson's character in Bottle Rocket seeing as how they were best friends growing up. I was obviously around Owen and Luke quite a bit in my younger days but he is the one who keeps in touch with them as well as Wes Anderson.

I came across your article while researching Wes Anderson for a presentation; and despite that this was written over a year ago, I was wondering if you could possibly specify the underwater scenes and peanut references in each of his films, as you claim them to be trademarks of his. I wish I could rely on my memory to recall them but it's been too long since I last seen any of his films. Thanks.

Nice post. I'm a huge Wes Anderson fan. His films are hilarious but manage to be incredibly sincere as well.
