Film School Rejects: David S. Goyer to Focus on The Invisible Man Before Magneto

Wolverine will do boffo box-office, but a Magneto origin movie is just stupid. And the Invisible Man remake is about as thrilling as the upcoming Wolf Man remake. That is to say, not at all.

And Last - PART FIVE - Rob_Hunter (continued) - to your comment on "Magneto" being stupid - are you mentally near sighted. A well written film version of the origin of one of Mavel's most feared villians would be classic -- uh, hold up. I just remembered it's Hollywood. Ok Rob_Hunter, you might be on the nose with that one. Damn Hollywood!!!

PART ONE - First: to Mr. Miller - how you can be writing film comentary (for a online sight) and never seen Universal's CLASSIC "The Invisible Man" , is somewhat beyond me. This comment is not meant as an insult, just an observation. Watch more movies!!

PART TWO - Second: to Rob_Hunter - "The Wolf Man" remake not thrilling? Clearly, you are a modern movie watcher. You know, watching movies with your head up your backside. "The Wolf Man" looks to be shaping up rather nicely. A merging of Universal and Hammer Films of old. Atmosphere over gore. Story and character content over SPFX.

PART THREE - Rob_Hunter (continued) - Now there's nothing wrong with some gore and well done SPFX (Rick Baker FX's that is). The right amount, and you have a classic horror film. To much, and you have a "Friday the 13th" or a torture porn flick of crap (see most modern supposed horror films).

PART FOUR - Rob_Hunter (continued) - you are right on one note, "Wolverine" will most likely do boffo box office. That is, unless the studio has balls it up somehow. Gave us a great looking Comic Con trailer, but the movie turns out to be a load of good looking horsehockey.

Actually, saying something is stupid, is stupid in and of itself. Such a broad term leaves one wondering why the person using that word can not come up with something a little more descriptive of what they are actually trying to say. "Magneto" stupid? WHY? Can't you come out and say what you mean? If you have a valid opinion, just come out and say it. That is what is meant by "discussion".
  • Rob_Hunter · 10 months ago
Part A - I've seen the originals of both the CLASSIC Invisible Man and the THRILLING Wolf Man, and they're both good films. The Wolf Man remake reportedly stays true to the original, which means it will not be thrilling, because I will have seen it before... in the original.

Part B - You have three first names, and therefore cannot be taken seriously.

I'm cutting you some slack here out of respect for your awesome 'Fright Night' icon, but are you actually saying that calling something 'stupid' is stupid? And then defining 'discussion' as a person sharing their opinion?

For the record, I find the idea of a Magneto origin film about as interesting as another Superman origin movie. X-Men already told that story, albeit in an abbreviated form, but do we need a whole movie? Maybe if the Marvel universe had already been exhausted, and there were very few characters left to explore... but that's not the case. I'd much rather see new films involving new characters or ones who have only had limited visibility so far. Vision? Nightcrawler? Colossus? Amalgam?

"Reimagine"... I hate that word. If it were a person, I'd want it drawn, quartered, butt-raped, chopped into tiny little pieces while conscious... then reassembled, brought back to life, and repeat for eternity. Sure, we just took "remake" and added more syllables (RIP George Carlin!), but that word has brought us so much utter yakcrap these last few years. Not just bullcrap, but yakcrap, which is bigger and smellier. Just ask any yakherd. ;)

Rant aside, if Goyer really plans to take the book and just write a sequel, it might actually be good. Does this mean we can ignore Chevy Chase's version completely? *jumping up & down excitedly* But frankly, this plot sounds like most other Invisible Man movies, and TV series we've already seen. How about something original?
