I haven't seen this yet, and I really want to. Tony Head is fucking fantastic.

Are you all mad? This movie was awful!!! Pitchy songs, Raspberry award acting, pathetic and mildly confusing plot. The only cool stuff was small bits of CG'ed wall paintings here and there. Total let down and melodramatic to a fault..

it's common for the genre to have these issues..you expect it going in, so it's not a big problem with enjoying it

Re: Pitchy. Maybe from Bill Mosley, but Zdunich, Head, and Vega are all pitch perfect.
Re: Acting. It's an opera, its supposed to be over the top. I'll give you Hilton.
Re: Plot. It wasn't confusing if you listened to the words. Everything was explained through song and dance!
Re: Melodrama. Again, it is an opera.

It's one of those movies that puts it all out there. "This is an opera." If you don't like opera, you won't like this movie.

If Anthony Head is in it, then I have to see it. I too have a soft spot for musicals, and sure he's not the world's best singer, but he's definitely got some pipes. From the first I heard of this I was interested - it sounds like an old sci-fi story the name of which I can't place - but now it sounds even better.

The kid and I watched this about a month ago and absolutely loved it! Paris' face falling off was a nice highlight to experience. What made the experience all the more fun is it was a dreary rainy day and we had a fire burning in the fireplace. Of course this film isn't for everyone the husband isn't as broad in tastes, so he thought we were crazy for watching and enjoying this little film.

I enjoyed it very much it wasn't Rocky Horror or Phantom of The Paradise...although it had some great moments and the majority of songs were excellent...I think if you ever plan a Rock Opera marathon it would make a great addition...the low budget CGI effects are expected although used a little too often... also the comicbook panel shots were a bit annoying mainly because the art was lame and you wished they had actually shot those scenes instead...but overall it's a cool flick

I think you can tell how I felt about this movie.

Also, give a little credit to Sarah fucking Brightman.
  • RobertFure · 9 months ago
Sara Brightman was good, of course, though she had a leg up on everyone considering she's had real and extensive stage experience. Techinically speaking she would be the most impressive and the only one who really takes a turn at an aria.

Very true, she did have quite an advantage in that department. It was definitely impressive to see how well the cast did even though they lacked an extensive musical background. Although Alexa Vega was in Hairspray and Paul Sorvino has had many years of vocal training and started off his career on broadway, it's nothing compared to Sarah Brightman.

This sounds awesomely ridiculous, I'm down for it.

Proofreading would improve FSR considerably, so consider it. I'm not a spelling nazi, but it's really bad throughout the site. Just a simple spellchecker would help immensely.
