Well I think now that it's confirmed we should just get on board and can the complaining as we'll all be there opening weekend anyway so no sense complaining now.

All I can say is PLEASE MARVEL RECONCIDER! Terrence Howard was Rhodey not
    anyone else.
  • Trace · 1 year ago
I agree with David. Nothing we do or say is going to make a difference. Let's get used to it.

Hey, sounds like my mentality on the election!
  • Mbessgettios · 1 year ago
    Ho ho! Topical humor!

Anyways, I think that Terrence Howard was perfectly suitable as Rhodes but not essential in any way. I like Don Cheadle, I guess. The continuity switch is inconvenient but it won't kill the franchise. I say, rock on Don Cheadle.

even if we have to bite our tongues and agree with there stupid decision...

i still think we have to voice our opinion... and i for one think this is redicilous on
    Marvels part.

Howard is a great actor.. and hes a great supporting actor..

now with ironman2 and cheadle next to robert i feel like im watching two main lead
characters, cause thats what cheadle has been doing, a ton of lead characters.

Tis a sad day in film!

Gay might as well replaced him with Dave Chappelle. In my mind this is a big mistake

Lets be realistic here. Studios will only cast big-name (and big money) actors in key roles of their blockbuster features. Not suprised.
  • Aleric · 1 year ago
The studios can cast whoever they want.

I can choose not to go to the movie and give them my money. If more people agree with me and not go to see Iron Man II then it will bomb like the first Hulk movie. Decisions have consequences, unfortunately Hollywood never learns.
  • Davebaxter1989 · 1 year ago
Oh come on Aleric Iron Man 2 will never bomb it is a guaranteed success after the first film but if you feel that strongly then I admire that but we've waited too long for some great comic book films so we can't let annoying but not terrible cast decisions ruin our enjoyment.

To be honest, I feel no outrage over the decision to change as Howard wasn't given enough time to claim Rhodes as his own. I just feel the switch was unecessary and they should have stuck with Howard for the sake of continuity. If it was about money, Howard must have been asking for a hell of a lot if they felt that Cheadle was a cheaper option.

er....wtf? cheadle in place of howard? is there a reason for this Marvel? How about coming out an explaining the switch?
  • Jason · 1 year ago
Switch=Weak. Cheadle's a good actor but continuity gets impaired. Yea, we'll all still see it for sure but dang. It's jacked to be Howard at this point. He's missing out on a nice addition to his body of work which all actors strive to build and improve upon, not to mention the pay.
  • Robert Fure · 1 year ago
Don't necessarily like the switch, thought Howard was ok. But really, on a list of awesome things about Iron Man, Howard was like 59th. As long as the other 58 awesome things are there, Iron Man 2 will be amazing.
  • BS · 1 year ago
Howard is always a presence, but I don't think he was a huge difference maker in this role. Maybe he was holding back for an upcoming sequel to shine, but he did not stand out in Iron Man. However, I think symmetry helps and I wish they would have stayed with him. But, Cheadle is great and will be a more than adequate replacement.

I'm personally going to boycott the opening weekend....

So instead of the film making $69.000.010 its only gonna pull down $69.000.000.
    Feel my rage !!!!

But seriously this switch totally screws the continuity...

I heard that the other reasons that were in play. Like a problem with his family or something. Weird.

It is extremely disapointing. I don't know if fan response has any push in the business, but Marvel and Favreau definitely need to know the disappointment shared by at least half of Iron Man fans. If Marvel or Favreau would just come out and explain the decision, that would at least help us fans who are against this switch, understand the move. Very very sad. Its true the movie will still do well, but with the amount of fan push back on this move, it won't reach its potential.
