I didn't see the movie back in 2005, but I saw yesterday (July 28th, 2007).
Ang Lee did a great job directing this movie; however my sincere and deep appreciation goes to Annie Proulx for her magnificent story. The story is deep in love, deep in feelings, deep in opportunities people are afraid of taking.
This is more than a love story, is the story of a secret love. Before the 1950's love between a black person and a white person was a taboo. Nowadays even though racism is still alive everywhere those relationships are not taboo anymore. Homosexual relationships however are still a major controversy, but I hope someday people accept it as heterosexual relationships are accepted.

The story of Ennis Del Mar and Jack Twist is unique and deep. I'm still amazed how a heterosexual woman was able to come up with such sweet, bitter and passionate story.

A day after watching the movie and reading the original short story my heart does not stop beating with nostalgia, melancholia and sadness. This is only love story that touched deep in my heart by making me cry and appreciate love.

    Thanks Annie Proulx!!!

The movie in all reality was really slow the two men were not homosexuals they were bi-sexual it showed all the time right up to the end, and it was stupid they had to kill off the one, instead of showing they could get along without others. the senic shots were just wonderful, but both men were shown up by the wives in their roles. It is too bad that they had to make it a homosexual movie when it really wasn't just two lonely men who wanted to meet a couple of times a year and this is suppose to be love, I don't think so. Thanks
