They did this with the third film and it brought the suck hard.

Realistically, they are not going to attract any of the older fans - and I doubt if Murphy alone is enough of a pull to bring a 4th installment much $.

Would be nice to see a return to the character from the first film and all it's gritty glory.

So, the Rat wants to make a film LIKE he remembers watching as a kid, eh? Did he by any chance then get the edited version of the first 2 films, then? 'Cause I seem to remember a buncha cursing and violence in the first 2. And I guess all copies of those films were lost to the ages, 'cause if 10 or 12 year olds don't really know the old Beverly Hills Cop (if they don't know it, then why bother making another geared toward them?), then they can't rent it.

Ah, Hollywood. You make no sense.

Why do they keep killing our favorite franchises with these remakes/sequels geared towards a younger audience? The original moves were not geared towards kids, so why are the new ones? It's all about the money grubbing studios wanting to let in the biggest audience possible. "Hey kids, lets go watch John McClane kill some bad guys with family friendly dialog and limited violence!" If I wanted to watch that, I would sit at home and watch the watered down version on TV. At least Stallone didn't dilute the new Rambo. I say, unless they are going to make a movie that is true to the original, don't make it at all. PHEW... that felt good.

There's a difference here that we're overlooking. Beverly Hills Cop was ONE GOOD MOVIE. The sequels were all horrible. At least Die Hard, Indy, Rambo, and well, the first 2 LEthal Weapons were good. This is going to be the 3rd shitty sequel to a good movie.

Ok... I grew up with Eddie, being EDDIE in Beverly Hills Cop I II and III and the 2 48 Hours he did. Eddie has that street smart, wise ass attitude and what we have come to expect. Now, yes Eddie has kinda sold out to the main stream movies after all these years but come on.... Eddie should act like Eddie for a B.H.C. sequel. It's like the writers just gave up and said its too hard to make an edgier B.H.C..

I hate to say it...but it seems if Robert Downey Jr. keeps doing what he's doing, he has a great future ahead of him. and I would go see more of his stuff.
