Film School Rejects: Box Office: Clint Eastwood Drives His Gran Torino to the Top

Yes, this movie was well put together and had more to it than just drama. It shows how this generation lacks alot. So much has been lost in the past thirty years or so. I have to admit that my genereation lacks manners, courtesy and a lot of knowledge that would seem like common sense. It had a great message and Eastwood performed well. Im glad it wass received the way it was.

Clint Eastwood has done it again. "Gran Torino" is one of his finest films as a
director/producer, and most certainly one of his best performances. Eastwood has
accomplished his best work in the latter years of his career. The man truly is an icon in
front and behind the camera. A true inspiration to all the filmmakers out there.

i have to agree that gran torino did well b/c clint eastwood is a superb actor and director/producer..but i think alot of the credit goes to the Hmong population..this was the first big movie that was about them...hmong people are loyal and they went out in droves to see this movie to show their appreciation and support.

My husband and I are in our 70's and we'd both like to see this again. Eastwood is a "crusty old man" - along with some of the hilarity of it all. It is so nice to see a movie that both makes you laugh and cry. I hope their are some great actors following after all the "old guys" are gone. Nothing like them.

No, I don't agree with you about Grand Torino. The movie made that much money because they had Hmong people in it. There familys and friends went out their to support them. Yes, it's an Clint Eastwood movie too, but without the newbies this movie wouldn't be so great. Why? it's because all of the Hmong communities. They wanted to see their own kind on the big screen and being able to do so encourage the young and elders to go see the movies. Let me give you one fact about Hmong people. They are not just other ordinary people, when it comes to their own kind they will come as a family and support each other whether there will be fame involve or not. Trust me they are shy people and they don't care for fame and richness. They only want the Americans people to see how messed up they were when they left the Hmong People behind in Laos. Do some more studies on the Hmong folks you'll love them.
