Film School Rejects: Bourne 4 a Sure Thing, Matt Damon Not So Much

Christopher M · 11 months agoI agree they could be turning these novels into actual movies instead of mashing them into a Bourne installment....I have limited hope for screenwriters when they have to hold onto novels for support instead of writing something original...It's not like Bourne is that complicated of a character and the spy genre isn't Shakespeare....It's already a take on James Bond and I think a sequel could write itself....it's always Bourne running and fighting with limited story...

JMoney · 11 months agoplease god no, don't waste Ludlum's other novels on a crappy Bourne sequel. those books should be made into their own movie

Mladen · 11 months agoDid any of the Bourne sequels have anything to do with the plots of the books anyway (besides the name)?
-
JMoney · 11 months agothe first one didn't have anything to do with the plots of the books to begin with, so it was hard for the sequels not to follow that path. I've said before that I enjoyed the books and the movies for what they are, two things that have nothing to do with each other, just the name.

Odd · 11 months agoYeah the first Bourne novel (The Bourne Identity) was actually about Bourne Vs The Jackal in which his character actually killed Bourne and assumed his name to pursue the Jackal ... the film obviously was very different. Unless I'm misremembering the book of course :-p

David G · 11 months agoI guess it'd be too much trouble getting Von Lustbader's Bourne series used? I'd like to see The Bourne Legacy made into film. Although I wasnt feeling The Bourne Betrayal.

Davebaxter1989 · 11 months agoI have trouble caring as I loved the first three and they had not a lot to do with the books so I think they could do the same. As long as Damon and Greengrass are back I'll be there.

JMoney · 11 months agothe novel was so much more, he isn't really even a spy in either, but the novel Bourne was such a better character. and the other novel's character's are all kinda the same but they should have their own movies, like the Sigma Protocol or the Materese Circle, or they could go with a female lead with the Holcroft Covenant. all great books that deserve a better fate than be picked apart in order to piece together another Bourne movie

JMoney · 11 months agoI don't understand how those other three books even work, Bourne is close to 60 years old in Ultimatum, how could they possibly get three more novels out of him?

CaptainReg0981 · 5 months agoIt's good that they are following Robert Ludlum's novels. It's like James Bond but with spin of sequels.
