Film School Rejects: Boiling Point: Car Chase City

    Aren't they already make list about all Hollywood make believes along with unrealistic car chase? Things like all scene in Paris always have view of Eiffel Tower? Those who showing their girlfriend pictures back home on war scene will end up dead a few moments later? And so on. So what's the point criticizing car chase scene anyway, film maker have tendency to do all of those make believes for dramatizing reasons.

    I agree with you on this one Robert, but I believe the car AJ drove in WANTED was a Dodge Viper and no matter what their special powers to bend bullets and all nothing can make a delivery truck handle nor match the speed of a Viper.

    My pet peeve is when cars launch into the air and land in a hard crash on the ground and you can see the under carriage buckle but the in the next shot they are handling perfectly.

    I've got 2 movies you should check out if you enjoy realistic car chases.

    Bourne Identity. There's a wicked chase sequence with Jason in an old beat-up Mini being followed by cops in those little Euro cop cars as well as motorcycles. Amazing stunt driving in that film with some normal cars.

    The second is Quentin Tarantino's half of Grindhouse: Deathproof. Now that's some class-action, bad-ass car chasing right there. Some equally matched cars, awesome flips and jumps and the entire movie is fun to boot.

    Once again, your closing statement "Maybe it's just me." or "Maybe I'm the only one who cares" is really annoying.

    What about the fact that cars in movies seem to have superpowers wherein no matter how hard they crash, or thump into the back of another vehicle, or absorb bullets, they somehow manage to keep going. Watching QoS, Bond's car seemed to be absorbing bullets fired from automatic weapons..and somehow none of the bullets bounced around and end up in Bond's skull.

    Considering it's a car built for one of England's best secret agents, I assumed it was bulletproof.
