thank you so much for this. its like you have written out my defacto interior monologue during a movie. i cant believe the level of disrespect theatregoers show towards each other. i can't remember the last time i had an "excellent" theatregoing experience. i try to go only to landmark/theatres like that, not to be a snob, but because at least the people there are a little more interested in film, since most of those films are not exactly mainstream, but even there it's terrible...you get alot of the "oh did you get that" people because everyone is so self-important and snobbish. i guess you just can't win. which is why i'm going to buy my own personal theatre.

Nice rant. I am a manager at a movie theatre and I have to say, talking in movies is the number one complaint I get when working Guest Services and the theatre in which I work is pretty proactive when it comes to this problem. However, I find it difficult to watch movies with the general public. I'm lucky enough to have the privilege of screening movies in advance, but if I miss the screening of a film I want to see, I usually wait for it to come out on DVD. Anyway, I always find it encouraging that people notice the problem and that there are more people who hate it than practice it.
