I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I think that Juno is far from a cute film. Ellen Page is a different story. The movie is more than her. Its more dramatically focused than Knocked Up, Juno's male counterpart. Compare the pregnacy tests scenes. I'm shocked at the female POV which is fresh.I think the best pic category is more split now. If this wins it might be for the same reasons American Beauty won. It opens eyes on how real young people think like Beauty showed how middle aged adults think. On a smaller note, it gives a smaller nod to Knocked Up which is more lighter summer fare. But that's relatively lighter. Juno, Knocked Up, Superbad hell throw Freaks and Geeks in there. We need more stories like this.
