Film School Rejects: Bale Waiting for Nolan to Take on Challenge of Third Batman

I would think Christian Bale would be able to judge a good script when he sees it, he has been pretty dead on for most of his career. So if Bale is on board then so am I but if he steps out or doesn't give it the thumbs up then I will not drop my dollars to see it.

It's all a matter of the script. Will it be as good as Dark Knight? Probably not. It can't be. Heath Ledger placed a pall over anything done after that film was completed.

Making a better film is an awfully big challenge. Will it be a good film and undeservedly compared to Dark Knight? Absolutely.

See I disagree, the story and the actors are what makes a good film and with a competent director it should be a lock. Heath brought a unique twist but he isnt the only reason the film succeeded.

While Heath wasn't the only reason the film did well, he is the reason the movie was as popular as it was. How many people really care to watch the batman movie? How many people will go see a movie when it's a hot, oscar nominated guys last movie?

I agree that a good cast, crew ad story are what's important for a movie's success. That's why he third movie will be a god one. However, the third movie will never be as popular, simply because it will not have the same level of publicity.

Isn't he contractually obligated to do it regardless?

I still think Batman Begins is better than The Dark Knight. And they set up the last movie to have Gotham City up in arms against Batman, not only does that bring back some nostalgic memories of "Mask of the Phantasm," but it makes a great jumping off point for the third film.

I can't belive you think Batman Begins was better than The Dark Knight. I did enjoy the fresh & different story in Batman Begins, but the villians sucked. I know everyone thinks less is more now with bad guys just because of the previous Batman istallments & the trainwreck of Spiderman 3, but Batman Begins was kinda of boring movie compared to the sequel. I think the script will kick ass & it will be good just would have been better with the Joker (Heath Ledger). Hopefully they get Mark Hamil to do the voice in some dark cell scenes at Arkham.

I think batman begins is a better movie then the dark knight too. I like the scarecrow, and raz al ghoul as the villains. Because they weren't in every scene, it gave room for us to get to know batman. The problem with The Dark Knight was that it became the villain's movie, Batman was written down to make room for the joker. The Dark Knight was great, don't get me wrong, but I still prefer the story and characters from the first movie.
I hope for the third movie they just leave the joker out of it, they don't need him. While it would have been great for Heath to be around for the third movie, recasting the joker won't work as well as recasting Rachel Dawes. Besides, Mark Hamil and Heath don't sound anything a like, while cartoon fans would appreciate it, anyone else would be lost.

One thing I think could help the next Batman film is using a police detective who is psysiaclly determined to track down the Batman, since Batman is now an enemy of the law. This would create another obstacle for Batman while going after mob or supervillan. I'm thinking the character could be a younger faster Gordon with a passion for justice like Harvey Dent, but unlike Harvey or Gordan he or she dislikes the Batman and wants to bring him to justice.
