They're meant to look like cat people! So it's not weird that they "look a little like cat people". That's what makes them look cool!

Why do all "Aliens" have to be humanoid? How narcissitic do we have to be to believe that life on another planet will be good looking humanoids?

I think in the past it was easiest to have your aliens be humanoid to minimize on the difficulty of giving them extensive screen time. CGI isn't cheap and props can be hard to maneuver. So what easier way to make an alien than to paint somebody up or put them in a costume. Now the real question, why is Cameron doing it now with his near unlimited budget? My guess is that there is the likely possibilty that audiences won't sympathize or relate to beings that they can't easily identify with. Facial expressions convey emotions that humanoids can take advantage of. I'm sure every director has a large imagination, but perhaps its the nature of the public that is holding them back from being adventurous. Just a guess...

After seeing the eyes on the prawns in D9, I don't think aliens have to be humanoid to be identified with. I know that it is easier for production to do humanoid aliens (which is why most of Star Trek aliens are humanoid) but with Cameron's budget, I think he could have been more creative. Mentioning D9 again, with a budge of $30 million, those prawns sure looked really good. I admit, the movie may be awesome (I am definitely going to see it in 3D), but I am disappointed at the lack of creativity I've seen so far.

I can't take this movie seriously. Everytime I see photos or even the trailer I laugh my ass off. I'm not supposed to be laughing am I. I'm sad, I was looking forward to it. I mean it might be awesome, most likely, I just can't take it seriously.

Four months advance tickets - rofl
I might like this movie a lot but I don't think I will watch it on midnight in IMAX 3D. No one knows what you will be doing four months from now on a certain date at a certain time. I think it would be stupid to buy tickets 4 months in advance.

Since the run time of Titanic is 3hrs 14min, I am guessing Avatar will be somewhere close to 3 hours. I like lengthy movies with good story and awesome effects. I am pretty sure that this movie will not disappoint us.

I think we will get used to the weird look of the aliens as we watch the movie when it releases. I guess I was too picky about finding something negative in the preview.I hope they release another trailer soon so that my friends can begin liking this movie too.

one of the reasons they look human like is to show the emotions on their face expression and why do people always think aliens have to look weird and ugly to tell u da truth i find these aliens one of da most realistic.
