It would be tough to bring that around at this point since he's already Batman - when he's becoming Batman her darkness attracts him. But she is a really good thief and a menace. Not a bad force against Batman either. Just leave out all the hokey "nine lives" cracks and cat puns, and you'll be solid.
As for Angelina in the part? No, thank you.
Im all for the riddler. The theme for Nolanverse cannot accomodate Catwoman, who poses a VERY VERY minimal threat to Gotham as a well. But the riddler!...now we're talking.
the last film, and you'll need something to take its place.
Simply put, Batman is in a pretty emotionally vulnerable state at this point, and injecting
a character into this world who truly understands what his lifestyle is all about (and
embraces it) would make a lot of sense.
However, you'd have to reinvent the Catwoman character, possibly make her a ninja too.
See, she wouldn't be a villain. Actually, the opposite. She fights crime too, but she again
challenges Batman's rules. She goes farther than he does, and she gets things done. But
ultimately we see the failing of her methods. I'd even go so far as to make her a wealthy
kid like Wayne. The appropriate ying to Bruce's yang.
The villain of this story would be somebody like the Riddler or Bane or the Penguin as
the bad guy. Personally I like Bane because of the Venom drug story line. And and we
come to find out that Catwoman is addicted to venom, and when she tries to kick it and
take on Bane, he breaks her back. So Bane could "break the bat" emotionally. This sets up
a climax where Bane is not only taking over the city, but has just killed the woman
Wayne has just started to fall for.
Would that be a worthy story line?
If Nolan intends to carry on the theme of escalation, then the riddler would be perfect! Potrayed like the dude from the Saw series (yes, the Saw series totally sucks but Nolan CAN show something similar but good), and by a good actor (i hear a lot of mention of daniel day lewis), the third movie in this franchise could be explosive.
Whatever you're smoking, I want some.
That being said, if they do decide to make a third one, i have great confidence Nolan et al can make the Catwoman storyline work, there's nothing to indicate they can't.
As for Jolie, people forget that she is an amazing actress when given the right part. But the reason I think she wouldn't work for this role is her size really, she's too tall, i always envision Catwoman as more of a petite woman. Plus I don't think Nolan would want the attention Jolie would bring, he hasn't really used any superstars so far.
i think if he does agree to do a third film, whatever villian he chooses, i'm sure he go with a talented up and coming actor to play the part, like he did with Bale originally and Ledger for the second film.
Lol guy she is a Femele batman even bob kane say so, she is enought interesting, becuase is mcuh more than just the batman girlfriend, she is a in essence the same being..
burglar putting on a costume, just like in Year One. No for Jolie though. She's too well
known.
it COULD be great as long as its not an origins story for catwoman-lik she just shows up
out of nowhere and kicks batmans ass big time and batman is for sum reason attracted
to her. make her some what of a villian like in tim burtons BM Returns (thats what i hated
about berry's catwoman movie she was a good guy, she was supposed to be a cat
burglar lol cat burglar). As far as Angelina goes im not sure yet, she is my most favorite
female action star along with Mila J, but it could work with her (maybe im just saying that
cuz i love tomb raider 1 and mr. and mrs.smith) i think she'll bring straight up sex to
gotham city and some. as far as the riddler goes No, im sure lots of ppl will disagree
with me but out of tha bad BM movies i think jim carrey as the riddler was preety damn
good casting and his performance was well but his character is a bit to similar to joker.
to Chris Nolan’s series, one that has had nothing of the sort
thus far."
::blinks:: Nothing of the sort? Really? I hope you realize
you're speaking for your half of the human race only. :-)
A MUCH BETTER (perhaps near purrrfect to me) Catwoman would be Milla Jovovich who already has a rather feline style of action acting.
Now, IF there is a Catwoman, I'd rather it be Angelina Jolie than anybody else. She can act very well when inspired (watch Gia) and she's done plenty of action films. She's sexy and mature enough to not feel like some lame gimmick to get a hot girl in tight leather - such as would happen if they used Megan Fox. Fox has no acting talent, she just looks really good, that's not enough to get a role in Batman.
As for the Riddler, it seems to be the biggest popular villain left and some casting choices sound neat but honestly I don't know if Johnny Depp would work. Look at the villains in the other films - they are all good actors but ones we NEVER saw coming. Depp fits almost too well. Ras Al Ghul, nobody would have guessed Liam Neeson. Scarecrow with Cillian Murphy, he wasn't known that well before the movie. Everyone laughed at Heath Ledger as the Joker and I saw no guesses for Aaron Eckhardt as Two Face. So why now should we settle for the obvious choice?
I'm also of the firm belief that we should get a chance to see characters they haven't used in the movies before. Not a ton of them would fit very well but there are some - namely Black Mask, Harley Quinn, Hush, Mad Hatter, Dr. Strange, The Wrath, or Lock-Up. Previous used ones that I favor are as follows - Riddler, Catwoman and Bane.
Carrey's portrayal doesn't know the Batman comics. That was pure kitsch, and I couldn't
even watch it. The Riddler in the comic is a deeply disturbed, dark psychopath--not an
anarchist like the Joker, but a sadist who wants to inflict psychological torture, with the
kind of twist that comes from the deepest of psychosis. Think of the darkness of Zodiac
and the psychological nuances of SAW and you understand the kind of true, deep evil
which would be perfect to see explored in the Nolan series. Nolan is exactly the kind of
director who (with his brother) understands the deep psychology of his characters--and
what makes them deeply disturbing in a dark, dystopic world, which unfortunately
affects audiences so deeply, because we recognize the truth of it. We're living it right
now in some pretty harrowing ways--without having a true savior--however tortured he
may be.
As for Jolie as Catwoman, truthfully, that was my first thought. But in line with Nolan's
tendencies, I'd like to see him cast an unknown--someone truly unknown--who could
play the part. He would need to reinvent the character--and make her as deep, as
nuanced, and as haunted as Batman/Bruce Wayne. I almost think she should rise from
some other part of the world (i.e. South Africa), and have a similar reputation elsewhere
before they meet in Gotham. That she is also wealthy, powerful in "real life" but as
Catwoman, stealing conflict diamonds from dealers (i.e. Sierra Leone), taking them off
the market and in some Robin Hood like manner giving the money to those populations
once subjected to human slavery or slaughtered by genocide. She responds to evil with
harrowing force, and acts, too, as judge, jury, and executioner of those who have
participated in such evil, unlike Batman. Therein would lie the conflict between them.
Just an idea.
Catwoman as other people have already stated has a very rich background. I'm not even a big comics expert and I find all the possibilities interesting. As a love interest she is a nice contrast to Rachel and could potentially be from a completely different world than Rachel. Catwoman could be related to Falcone... batman taking Falcone down could have ruined her life and lead into her life of crime. There could be a notorious cat burglar for hire loose in Gotham whom everyone assumes is a man until... surprise, surprise... They could use her to explore the sex industry in Gotham... so many things. As with Dark Knight she could be woven into a plot which includes other villains. She's not at the top of my wish list but I'd love to see a strong female character oppose Batman. I'd love to see what Catwoman would become in Nolan's wonderful Batman world.
and girls on here just fail to see the big picture. No one can steal the show more from Bat
Man than Heath's Joker. Angelina would not be a problem at all. Her body is ideal to play
Catwoman with a bad ass confident chick personality to match. Angelina Jolie would be
perfect. That chick from the Underworld would not be bad either. I vote Jolie.
ps. But I think there should be catwoman and poisen ivy doing crap in gotham.. and have some classic chick fight.... also they need to bring harley quinn into the picture.
Do not want.
Despite Hancock, maybe Charlize Theron? Or even Eva Green if she can kick her accent and
do some stunts.
This might be something interesting to look at. I think Jolie could pull it off after some Practice, sort of like Ledger in an apartment for 1 month by himself to "make" the Joker. Don;t judge a book by its cover.
Really, if you go back & read the comics she has a long standing history w/Batman/Bruce & she holds some integral parts in more than a few storylines. The character deserves a chance to be realized "properly", as much as Bats', Joker, Two-Face & friends. I have faith that Nolan would do a bang up job w/her...As for who to cast, thats a tough call--not to take away from Kate or Angelina, but if there's an unknown or lesser known that could manage I think it'd be best.
BARBARA GORDON (Batgirl) -- is the daughter of Commissioner Gordon and we clearly have seen there is no as we have been given access into Gordon's family life in Dark Knight. (Don't even mention Alicia Silverstone's performance because that was a disgrace to the character.)
VICKI VAIL - we forget that the Gotham media has played a significant role in the Batman series history and hasn't been touched much the Nolan films... Vicki is educated, a society woman, but lacks the depth of a female addition to the story if you ask me.
CATWOMAN/Selena Kyle - Whomever mentioned earlier that CATWOMAN has no depth CLEARLY needs to be briefed on the story history -- she would be an incredible addition and as many mentioned above, can provide so many adds to not only Gotham. I love her as the female counterpart!! I The 'red light' Gotham-esque district someone added above is a fantastic point - Gotham is filled with darkness, conspiracy, etc. and seduction would be a necessary add-on that Nolan would be able to execute and integrate flawlessly.
While many have been bashing Jolie as a character, I do think her roots would fit ideally in this role. Yes, she is overexposed, but lets not forget she does have depth, a sly cunningness, sex appeal and would be a natural candidate for the role. But I agree with the majority that a lesser-known actor would be more exciting. Megan Fox -- are you people kidding?! How about: Rachel McAdams (while a bit hard to picture, she is an incredible actress and I'd love to see her up for this challenge of a dark character), Natalie Portman??
And for the other characters...
ROBIN should not even be considered in Nolan's flick -- Batman's depth stands on his own and no side-show should EVER be considered...
RIDDLER. YES! I cannot imagine a third movie without Riddler I like the Kane/Riddler/Catwoman dynamic. A few thoughts on Riddler characters: Daniel Day Lewis (great great suggestion), John Malcovich, Ed Norton would provide that dark side and calculating quality... I'm getting excited thinking about these men in the role!
Lots of opinions... lots of rumor, lots of aiming a shotgun into a dark room, pulling the trigger and seeing what you hit when you turn on the lights...
Angelina Jolie - for all her choices of roles in less-favorable movies - is a strong actress and has the capacity to immerse herself in a role... something most Hollywood actresses today cannot claim. Some can try to make such a claim, but Jolie has the proven history of doing so. That sets her apart.
Would she be good in a Nolan-esque Catwoman role?
Would you go to the movie even if she bombed the role just to see her in skin-tight leather?
If your answer is 'yes' to either, then it is (and will be predictably) a solid hit.
Some say she'd be great in the role... some think lesser known actors would fit better to the role (so as to not draw attention away from our brooding Anti-hero)... to those people I ask: "Would a lesser known actress have the box-office appeal and strength of acting ability to make the role their own?"
Besides... put ANY woman with a meager amount of acting ability in a skin-tight black leather catsuit and most men are reduced to the intellectual capacity of drooling idiots, ANYway... so... it might as well be someone confident enough to stand opposite a heavy hitter (as Bale has proven himself to be) and give as good as she gets...
Also... let's get a few more things straight...
Catwoman is NOT a villain... (Spoiler alert and prediction!)
Catwoman will be a foil for our Caped Crusader. The dichotomy between Batman and Catwoman will be portrayed (Selina Kyle wants Bats, and wants nothing to do with Wayne) and that will be her part... she will be a secondary aspect of the movie... but enough of a rogue-type to keep her part interesting and pay homage to the role she has...
Riddler will be the villain du-jour... and my prediction...
Johnny Depp.
... and Jolie as Catwoman.

i also think that tom cruise would be awesome as clayface
