Why are they making a crappy sequel to a really good big budget motion picture? American Gangster was the kind of film that a.) should've stayed as a single movie, or b.) should've had a big-budget sequel with most (if not all) of the original actors returning.
It's a pity, since direct-to-DVD sequels to good films that feature unknown actors are almost always an embarrassment.

they already made this movie....it was called Carlito's Way which already had its own shitty straight to dvd sequel

I was always under the impression that American Gangster would be a series of movies, each based on different big American gangsters. So, there would be no need to have returning actors or anything....I don't know, that sounds better than having a sequel to Frank's story, which would make no sense to have. You know, kinda like the show on tv?
