Film School Rejects: ABC Family Sneaks a Little ‘Half Blood Prince’

    I can no longer bring myself to watch the movies since the passing of Richard Harris. He was such a dominant yet gentle central character. If you have followed the books you can see the choice in actors have been true to the characters with the execption of Ralph Fiennes. I think he's horribly miscast in the role of Voldemort. I agree that book 7 was a complete mess, it went way off path.

    I like Michael Gambon as an actor but I agree that Richard Harris was a better Dumbledore and is missed.
    I Like Fiennes as Voldemort.

    RIP Sir Richard... he was MUCH better than Gambon, who is playing Dumbledore with far too much emotion. GOF was a perfect example: Dumbledore didn't run in the room, grab Harry, shake him, & yell in his face when his name was picked; he only looked confused and asked him. I'm not happy that David Yates is still directing, either. In OOTP, he seems to have told the kids, "Don't act - just stand there!" Let's hope he's learned how to direct something other than commercials - that was his ONLY directorial experience when they picked him!!

    On Fiennes as Voldemort, I have to disagree. Watch Red Dragon and you'll understand why he's perfectly cast. Frankly, I think every movie has been perfectly cast, we've just suffered from flat directing and bad book-to-script translation. GOF has been the worst in this so far - they introduced at least 4 subplots that went nowhere; WHY???

    I agree, Fiennes in Red Dragon is insane. But in the HP series hes not been much of a badguy. But that is Voldemort. How could a glasses wearin, quiddich playing Harry gonna defend himself against anything more?
