Film School Rejects: A ‘Star Wars’ Horror Novel Called Deathtroopers? Yes Please!

  • deltavoyage · 10 months ago
Dude, my first reaction when I saw that cover was "Holy s***!" It looks awesome, and I can't wait for Deathtroopers to come out.

    Freaking sweet!

This may actually get me to pick up a book and read for the first time in years!

I haven't read a Star Wars novel in years, but I think this one goes on the list! Thanks for the heads up.

Despite the Billingtonesque levels of hyperbole going on here in the article, the book definitely does sound incredible. The concept of a horror novel inside the Star Wards universe is genius.

Are Jedi Zombies too far off????

I never saw this coming. I'd given up on the Star Wars novels years ago, but this has rekindled my hope.... a... new hope?

I've always loved the Star Wars novels. They sure as hell are better than the last 3 crappy movies that bastard George Lucas is responsible for. They really allow for us to dive deeper into the best parts of the Star Wars universe than any movie can.

My personal favorites are the ones that featured Bobba Fett (in my opinion one of the best characters in the Star Wars universe) They were really great, and I've always thought that one of the stories could be spun off into a movie. That'd be one hell of a way to get the fans back Lucas! Do an R rated Bobba Fett film. I salivate at the thought...

I also like the novels that deal with Luke training the next gen. of Jedi's. His nephews. Those were pretty sweet. But man, I haven't sat down to read a book in ages. But I'd make time if I was ever informed of a really cool sounding idea (like this one, which I do plan on reading!)

Timothy Zahn's 3 books about Admiral Thrawn were really good.
  • Jon Stephens · 10 months ago
Yeah, I think I read those. They were awesome, if memory serves.

If they do do a Fett movie (or that rumored Boba Fett tv show), Lucas should keep as far away from it as possible. DELEGATE, George you fool! Hire story editors and retire!

The novel which featured the death of Chewbacca really annoyed my dad. He quit reading star wars novels after that... I guess its a golden rule of writing: don't kill the wookie.

I have read a ton of the Star Wars novels also. This could be a fun one.

This seems cool, though it should have happened years ago. I mean, how many horror stories are there on Earth, and we're only 6 billion people with a few thousand years of history and no (provable!) real monsters.

The Star Wars Universe must have trillions of people, a much longer history, and some pretty monstrous things actually exist. They must have some wicked horror stories, aka, what happened last Thursday when I want to pick up some milk on Dantooine and was attacked by a god damn dinosaur snake that hunts by night.

I say turn this book into a series and then make it a cartoon, because horror is awesome and so are Storm Troopers.

Anyone who has the guts to make this a Stephen King-ese in writing styles has my eyes glued to the pages.

It sounds like a great idea. I can't wait to find out what what the book is about.
RobertFure made some good points. There are tons of possibilities in the Star Wars universe of more horror tales.

Why is it I see Lucas shutting this down with a few well placed cease and desist orders for copywrite infringement?
  • MrDeath · 9 months ago
I'm not sure I like this idea. I've never really liked when Star Wars attempted to get all dark, so I don't see me really going for this one.

Regardless, that cover art is quite awesome.
  • HelterSkelter · 9 months ago
Cease and desist? This is an official EU book. Its got official Lucas (as in company) backing.
  • BOB · 9 months ago
I think they should make it a serise.

    OMG! Holy crap
  • Hung Solo · 7 months ago
Fuck yes! Fuck yes! Fuck yes! lol Can't wait for this. I never once thought of a Star Wars horror novel (and if it's good hopefully seris) but as soon as I stumbled on the page (oh stumble how I love thee) it excited the hell out of me, now lets all just hope it doesn't suck

May the Force be with us!
