Film School Rejects: ‘Year One’ Shockingly Gets Cut, MPAA Rewards With PG-13 Rating

I'm starting to get really sick of this "recut from R to PG-13" trend that's going on. I guess only intellectual films aiming for Academy Awards can be R, now.

Oddly enough, the MPAA made me re-cut myself to go down from an R-rating to a PG-13. Now I can only drop the F-bomb twice my entire life, I have to cover myself awkwardly with a sheet during sex, but I can still shoot a guy's eyeball off with an RPG - so that's cool.

:) i saw the preview for this movie a few weeks ago and i'm so, so undeniably pumped. as for the awkward sheet, i'm sure you could find a way to make it part of your boyish charm. because at least you can still see flashes of boob, am i right?

Aww PG-13, that means it's gonna suck

MPAA are starting to drive me away from the theater. I mean, I go to the movies to see the movie the director wanted, not some cut up piece of crap (which this does look quite funny). I mean why not just wait to watch it in high def at home, UNrated.

Yeah the MPAA practice extortion and censor creative material. Its what they do. Oh and they have Federal connections. What's that tell ya. (Big Brother)

There efforts to save the children from being mentally scared should fall under the parents ability to control and raise there kids.

The MPAA have way to much power. They need to be crushed and disbanded.

Funny how there's a double standard when it comes to re submitting films. As independent films don't always get this privilege.

I was hoping we'd get another R rated comedy, but i'm still looking forward to this. Cera + Black what can go wrong?

    ANYONE GONNA CATCH FIGHTING? LOL!
  • Aleric · 7 months ago
Well if Harold Ramis was concerned with the quality of his picture he would fight for the film not being cut.

a lot of things...bad reviews/word of mouth, weak script/jokes, Ramis hasn't directed a decent comedy in years so chances are high it could be really bad....I'm more worried about the quality of the Ghostbusters sequel if these people are writing Year One are also scripting GB3...if it's as bad as it's rumored to be I don't expect the rating to have much effect
