this movie will probably make 1.03 billion dollars in all at the box office that is my prodiction boys and girls.

Mr. Hunter you are thinking of Broke Back Mountain with Heath Ledger you obviously already knew that or else you would never had made that statement

It Would Be lovely if the Dark Knight picked the Oscars clean but lets face it the pannel for the accademy wards are dominately senior citicens and middle aged people who probably dont dig the films of comic book and fantacy

I will be very disappointed if TDk doesn't win Best Picture. For the past few years, watching the Oscars and presentation for Best Pictures I always find myself saying, "Yeah, it was a great movie, and great to watch. But...how many times am I going to want to see this again?" For me, a Best Picture award should go to a movie where it was great to watch the first time around, and pulls you in to watch a second or third time. Of course, it also needs to be well shot with a good story. TDK is the first movie that has done that AND is Oscar worthy for a long time in my mind.

If you don't adjust for inflation, then the entire metric is meaningless...

Actually, box office mojo screwed up- the foreign numbers were 3 million off. (They said 469, but now its around 466) The worldwide total as of 11/25/08 are roughly 995.7 million. Not out of the woods quite yet.................

"none of this ‘adjusted for inflation’ junk"

While there's something to be said about the notion that a billion dollars is only a billion dollars when it's actually a billion dollars, using a non-adjusted metric only means that what was 15 years ago an unattainable box office figure and is now an astoundingly high box office figure is going to be in 10 years a high, but regularly achieved box office figure and in 30 years a fairly normal box office figure for a high-budget film.

A billion dollars simply doesn't buy as much now as it did when Gone With The Wind reached that figure in yesterday's dollars. Now it's just a footnote in a stimulus package, the annual revenue of a company that hasn't come close to making it onto Fortune's list, and less than the net worth of any of the 500 richest people in the world.
