hmm donnie darko is one of my favorite movies.. i understand that it did not make any sense... even the director was aware of that. but i liked the movie for what it had.. the music, cast, great scenes etc. But i don't understand why there is a sequel.... nobody wanted one.

I wonder if the sequel will be as pretentious as the first. The trailer makes it look like a horror film, maybe instead of pretending to be "deep" with a suburban, emo-kid Christ, they'll go for jump scares and gore.

This is just ridiculous. Donnie Darko is just one of those movies, whether you like it or not, should be left as a stand alone movie.

This has to be fake. Not the film itself, but the trailer. Anybody with iMovie could have made that. PLEASE tell me it's fake. Haha

I agree it does look fake, i thought most parts of it was from the original.
Its a shame they made a sequel to Donnie Darko, such an amazing film, why risk wrecking it..

The plot sounds pretty dumb. Just a rip off of the original cause they couldnt get original director Kelly to make another story. But do we really need another Southland Tales? Hell no. Darko was a great film for its creepy and clever story but it cant be redone.

    blckmanjew, it made perfect sense

    Spoiler alert

its pretty simple to grasp the story line and also the meaning but its also complex for that reason
the simple way of putting it is donnie darko saved the world without anyone knowing that he did other than himself.

but the movie left you to believe he either saved the world or he was just imagining all of it.

thats where the movie gets complex.

go watch the movie again man

Donnie Darko is my absolute favourite movie, one of the few I can watch repeatedly and not ever leave the couch, (even if my Double Stuf Oreos beckon). The trailer looks fan-made, and it appears others can agree it screams fake. The movie is a serious venture though as it is in some sort of production - but if the team in charge of this abomination want it to be taken seriously, they need to listen to Cole - step it up and actually advertise the damn thing.

I’m excited to see what happens in the sequel. Im glad its straying from that ‘emo’ vibe and will focus more on being a sci-fi/horror film. I’m sure the filmmakers knew they couldn’t match the amazingness of the original, but it does look like they had fun making a cool sci-fi flick.
