Film School Rejects: ‘Push’ is Like ‘Heroes,’ But With Way More Action

  • J · 1 year ago
Dakota Fanning is creepy. The whole thing sounds like X-Men meets Heroes with a bit of flair. Should I expect anything beyond that?
  • Trace · 1 year ago
    Dude.
  • Mathieu Lalonde · 1 year ago
Reminds me of Jumper... including the Samuel L Jackson wannbe chasing them (!)
  • KLK · 1 year ago
Trailer is about a minute too long and gives away too much of the story.

OVerall feels kind of generic, and the acting seems like it will leave something to be
    desired.
  • Rezwan · 1 year ago
Its Serenity meet Jumper meet Heroes
  • Matthew · 1 year ago
Looks terrible, like the type of action movie that takes itself entirely too seriously.
And yeah, it looks like Matrix; sorry it's true.
  • Rick · 1 year ago
I'm interested. The effects look very cool.
  • Limpy · 1 year ago
wow highly original! lame ass bunch of hacks and apes. go back to being trust fund kids and bankers.
  • emilee · 1 year ago
I just want to shout out some respect to the people behind The 4400, who are at least partially responsible for popularizing the ideas behind Heroes and Push. I love you guys, and like the Alamo, I'll never forget.
  • evetssnivelb · 1 year ago
Why Dakota Fanning? Why a Samuel L. Jackson clone? Why? To show how original this idea is?
  • Velocity · 1 year ago
    I miss the 4400
  • Yohoho · 1 year ago
Edit it down to a series of clips of Camilla Belle and it'll be fine.
  • kidsimple · 1 year ago
Chris Evans listed above Djimon Hounsou? Bad form.
  • SantaBJ · 1 year ago
    Awesome. Just....awesome.
  • Erik · 1 year ago
Agree with edited Camilla Belle. Unfortunately, if you notice, all of the effects are directly copied from heroes. Eyes blackening out? Come on, it's cool, but its currently in use! By a really popular show! And the division, led by a black man? Jumper. Fringe. Been there. Done that. Chris Evans, superhero. Been there. Dakota fanning....well, all I have to say is that if I could see the future I certainly wouldn't be so monotone about it.

In the end, this movie is a rip-gimmick with an awful soundtrack and an apparently very limited budget (notice the whole thing takes place on what looks to be the BACK end of a movie set.)

Oh, and, great title. Because it means so much.
  • Woho · 1 year ago
    yeah heroes the movie -
  • Jacob · 1 year ago
Push looks more like 4400 than Heroes. Almost like a direct rip-off.
  • John M · 1 year ago
I'm a sci-fi lover but YAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN. This movie is 5 years too late...
  • Reg · 1 year ago
I thought the trailer was good. I'm a big fan of heroes and xmen this definitely would
be in my genre. Chris to hotlist is nmber 1 in my list.
  • Mathieu Lalonde · 1 year ago
Even Dakota Fanning able to see the future is not original... She did it a couple years back in Speilberg's tv series "Taken"!!!

If only i had been living under a rock for the past ten years... this would have been one awsome blockbuster movie!!! ;-)
  • Greg Johnson · 1 year ago
The word I would use to best describe this trailer would be "lame".
  • asian · 1 year ago
anyone notice that this is set in hong kong, but there are no major asian characters?
  • darkguy · 1 year ago
what i dont like about it is that it seems like they have set powers in shows like heroes the charcters often have very diffrent powers.
  • Dez! · 1 year ago
Unfortunately I agree with those before, this looks a little TOO MUCH like heroes...

    D!
  • Morgan · 1 year ago
Starting to drift off topic, but the 4400 was a rip-off of a comic book series called Rising Stars.
  • Ronnie · 1 year ago
"Eww, this movie is going to suck. What a rip-off! Lame story!" Everyones ripping on this movie! Isn't the point of being a Film School Reject to be the one without the pomposity in school. The one that looked down on the film snobs because all they did was rip on Hollywood movies. It seems to me that this website is starting to pick up some of those snobs. I respect Neil Miller for getting excited about a movie thats going to be fun to watch. And I'm going to see this one, although it's not very original. People are saying it's a rip-off of Heroes. . . Heroes is a rip-off of X-Men!!! Who cares if it's a rip-off, just go to the movies and have fun!!
  • Glenn · 1 year ago
Like Ronnie said, Heroes is a rip-off of the X-Men, so, there's no point in saying "It's a rip-off of Heroes D:", like Heroes is an original idea... (Rogue = Peter xD)

I kinda liked it...i think it's gonna be a good movie, but i don't think it's gonna be DA BEST MOVIE EVA!...
  • John Congdon · 1 year ago
Wow, I am a huge Heroes fan and think this movie looks like it will be very action packed and exciting. Science Fiction is all a rip off from each other. It all has a way to be just slightly different.

Yes, this looks a lot like heroes, but that doesn't stop me from wanting to see the movie.
  • Rachel · 10 months ago
When I first saw the trailer in the theaters my very first reaction was "Holy crap, 'Heroes' knock off." If I do see it, it would only be to see Dakota Fanning. Otherwise, I think it just looks way too much like Heroes.
  • Titus · 10 months ago
I think the last poster best said it. Forget that it's a "rip-off". Everyone says this is a rip-off of that and is similar to that and so forth. But Heroes changed things from x-men and forged it's own identity that made it only similar. The same with those others mentioned. The difference with this one is that it's a cheap "KNOCK OFF". It's like the cheap knock-off Movies that come out sometimes when major films come out (Alien vs Hunter, Transmorphers, Snakes on a Train, etc... and I'm not kidding... these are real movie knock-offs... no lie... go look them up).
  • Titus · 10 months ago
If you are a fan off knock-offs that is cool. But that's what this is. It's a film using the Heroes hype and Heroes special effects (couldn't we have at least used some original digital effects aka black eyes) with a story and characters that could have actually came out of Heroes. All the aforementioned "rip-offs" did something different from what they were "ripping off". Heroes, for example, wasn't about constumed superheroes. Part of its appeal is that the "heroes" are just ordinary people suddenly given extraordinary powers. Basically, the idea that it could be you or your friend or your neighbor or anyone. There's no School for the Gifted, superhero team, Professor X, Brotherhood, Sentinels, or tights.
  • Titus · 10 months ago
And that's the biggest difference. X-men doubtfully could sue Heroes because they may have ripped some things off but they changed it enough to make it their own. From the looks of this movie Heroes could easily sue Push for this knock-off. When a movie is so similar looking to Heroes that they could have called it "Heroes: Push" (or have used the clips from this movie in a trailer for Heroes: Volume 4) and people wouldn't have known the difference, that's when you enter cheap knock-off territory.

It's not saying that that is necessarily something bad. If knock-offs brands of movies, kleenex, and other products didn't sell they'd stop making them. There's obviously a market out there. I find their lack of originality disturbing to some extent, but maybe that's just me. But let's at least see this movie for what it is. A Heroes knock-off.
