Film School Rejects: ‘Dangerous’ Box Office Numbers Reveal America’s Lack of Interest

  • 790 · 1 year ago
Haha,,, I would love this trend to continue, with Hollywood shitting out remakes and reboots like a carnival elephant, serves them right......

This Bankcock movie looks like a pile of old ideas that also included a vaction for Cage in Asia, and btw , really stupid title.

I like Cage ok, but he's really picked out some Shit films in the last few years.

First week back to school may be an issue

To an extent, I agree with JMoney -- the first week of school is a factor. Add that to the fact that we have only one release and we've got a problem.

On top of that, it was clear from the outset that Lionsgate had no faith in Bangkok Dangerous. They under spent on marketing, kept it away from critics and did almost everything possible to bury it. So in a sense, this is a situation created by the inadequacies of one particular studio and the failing of the other studios to put up any sort of fight for the box office... Hell, they could have released Righteous Kill a week early and it would have broken $10 mil. Now it has to compete with Burn After Reading and Tyler Perry next week. This weekend's release slate was simply mis-managed from every angle.

huh. Just out of the dollar show, Hellboy 2, the place was packed like an overstuffed sausage.

umm, how out of touch are you guys, this is a historically low box office weekend, the first week of football, plus studios dont realease 'good' films the the week after labor day.

I'm guessing that you haven't seen the movie, and are basing your 'review' of it being a 'piece of junk' on trailers and your prejudiced hate of Nick Cage.

It's pathetic that you've distilled your reviewing down to quoting freshness scores. Get out of the house once in a while, see a movie for yourself, and make up your own mind instead of trying to write witty article ripping movies you think you wouldn't like.

Better yet, why don't you write a script for a film? Since you seem to know what's good and what's not good? Do us all a favor and stop this terrible website and do something to improve the box office, if you think it's in such bad shape.

Damn Nic maybe if you didn't change your name like a douche & not cut ur hair it would have done good, but oh well go do a Lord of War 2 with less guns then the few before

There's a reason Lionsgate had little faith in Bangkok Dangerous - it wasn't good. At all. The Pang Brothers are capable of better. It's a shame they had Nic Cage as a hero when they were growing up. At least The Dark Knight's back at #3 at the box office :c)

Dickie Roberts opened to 6.6 million dollars on this same weekend in 2003. I think it's just this weekend. And the fact that everything that's still there has already been seen. Or it sucked.
