I like the part when one guy goes into the kennel to check on the dogs and is suddenly attacked by one that has mutated. This is def a gross and disgusting movie that crawls up your skin throughout. Good choice.

The Surprise when Doc was trying to shock Norris back to life and his stomach splits into a mouth and bites Doc's arms off.

The scene where MacReady (Kurt Russell aka "The Only Baddest Muthafu*ka Who Is Not Samuel L. Jackson") is testing the blood of the other men who are tied up and one of them turns out to be The Thing. That has to be the most genuine display of terror I have ever seen on film.

The best part: when the Army guy starts off speaking calmly and then explodes with: "I don't want to spend the rest of the winter TIED TO THIS FU*KING COUCH!!!"

Also alot of credit has to go to the ensemble cast of some of the best character actors ever, specifically Wilford Brimley and Keith David (aka "The Baddest Muthafu*ka when Kurt Russell and Samuel L. Jackson Have Scheduling Conflicts for Baddest Muthafu*ka Appearances").

In my opinion, John Carpenter's finest film. Not only a great story, great gross-outs, but a pervasive atmosphere of terror that permeates from the credits to the end. I'm with you Robert. I love this film and don't think it's received nearly the recognition it deserves as a horror classic.

Easily Carpenter's best film, and like Fure says, one of the best movies period.

And I'm with Big K... the scene where they're tied to the couch trying to find who's no longer human... tense, scary, and suspenseful.

    What happened to John Carpenter?

    "What happened to John Carpenter?"

I've been asking that since "Escape From L.A.".

I had a friend who used to say "He thought the world was flat, so he fell off."

I don't like many horror movies, but this is a really good one.
