I haven't scoured the web yet, but on December 26th, PTA releases 'There Will Be Blood'. Oscar worthy...maybe?

Wow, my intuition has you so wrong on so many of these... good thing you're not betting any real money on them.

Really original. Yeah. And of course, I'm sure that you didn't read this before you wrote your little list.

American Gangster will win Best Picture! You heard it here first:)

re: "Things We Lost in the Fire" -- Is it too much effort to use a person's actual country of origin instead of just calling them "foreign"? (As if there's 2 kinds of movies, American and foreign.) This kind of thing affirms us Americans' obliviousness to the world outside our borders.

Sorry to be harsh, but it's gotten to the point where that word just feels radioactive.

I saw a test screening of Elizabeth: Golden Age. I don't normally like this type of film, but it was pretty awesome and will be hard to top.

Not a good set of selections but I think there are some "discrepancies." First off, where's Rendition?! The one with Reese Witherspoon?! That looks way Oscar worthy - I have a feeling Reese is definitely going to be nominated.

Secondly, In the Valley of Elah is DEFINITELY going to be nominated. It's not going to be missed. In fact, it's going to take the place of Elizabeth: The Golden Age - what the HECK?! This movie looks awful, it's a BORING period piece, it does NOT have a place in the Oscars at all!! And Atonement, doesn't feel like it should either... but who knows, I've heard good things, I want to see it.

And lastly, Lust, Caution for the win? Are you sure... I'm sure it's great, but not a win. A foreign language film will NOT win over In the Valley of Elah, a downright look at how f'ed up America is... C'mon Nate!

no way an nc-17 movie in mandarin wins best picture. its just not going to happen.

Put money on TLJ getting Best Actor nomination, although I am not sure what Alex is talking about Elah being a look at America. That's quite a stretch.

I've heard good things about 3:10.

I know it was early in the year, but has Chris Cooper's performance in BREACH been bested? I don't think so.

    and Irish actor James McAvoy

James McAvoy was born and raised in Scotland, not Ireland.

I realise that the accents are difficult to distinguish for Americans, but please, a bit of research wouldn't have gone amiss.

Beowulf? Are you off your nut? That trailer looks god-awful.
  • Dave Greiman · 2 years ago
Much, much too soon to be even talking Oscars yet. Plus you are hyping up movies you haven't even seen yet. That'll burn you.

Beowulf looks like the last 10 movies of it's type to come out. Not impressed.
