Film School Rejects: 11 Rumors We Wish Had Been April Fool’s Jokes

Keanu rules. Don't disrespect him bitch.
  • RobertFure · 7 months ago
I don't watch Cowboy Bebop but I don't get why fans don't want Keanu in the role. He looks exactly like him. Like he was literally the inspiration for the character design.
  • Mark Frost · 7 months ago
Keanu's acting style would do Spike justice at all.
  • jack2jack · 7 months ago
Not to mention the movie is being made because of Keanu. He flew to Japan three or four times and pithced the movie to them. More than likely he's putting some Matrix money on the line. If anyone can get him to loosen up in this role I think the producer of this flick can.

And? I'd rather they hadn't touched it at all.
Why do we need a live action remake? The original's good enough. I f people are too closed minded to go and actually watch the original, then they don't deserve to see anything to do with it.

Simply because Keanu is starting to look his age and Spike is a character in his 20's. If Keanu still looked like he did in that picture I'd be all for it, but he dosen't so I'm not. Also look at what he did to Hellblazer and The Day the Earth Stood Still.

Why didn't you include Eddie Murphy as The Riddler in Batman 3? That was the worst, and most bullshit rumor concerning Batman 3. Second of course was Shia LaBeouf as Robin, partly because Robin would ruin the franchise, and because we don't need Robin screaming "No no no no no no!" through out the entire film

    I did.

    #2...THAT SHIT IS SICK.
  • JDV · 7 months ago
Keanu as Spike Spiegel actually fits. He can do the personality, he can perform the martial arts (stiffly, but he can do it), he's familiar with sci-fi, and he looks the part. They could have done much worse in regards to casting Spike. Impetuous Cowboy Bebop fans on anime message boards will never be happy.

If they keep it in Japan, and then look for a distributor, the film has a chance of being a damn good movie. I'm quite sure the Weinstein's will jump at the chance. And now that Disney distributes dvd's for just aboout everyone. Things should go smoothly with the project.

Love it. Great piece. lol at you know who publication.

uhhhhh, i don't watch c.b. either, btw. i'm just sayin...
  • Mark Frost · 7 months ago
You're right, anime fans will never be happy about live action movies based on shows. And it's because movie studios are going to ruin some of the greatest animes because they can't think of original ideas anymore.
  • Razorback · 6 months ago
Totally agree. It annoys me that hollywood has to go plundering pretty much every different form of entertainment to rip off nowadays. can't someone please come up with an original idea?
  • Justin · 7 months ago
I don't watch Cowboy Bebop, regularly, but what I've seen I do like. I don't much agree with having Keanu as Spike, or having a live action of an anime.

Most live action animes tend to be on the lame side. Casshern and Dragonball Evolution anyone? But i guess it all depends on directing and how true they decide to keep the storyline. Personally i think that if the anime was meant to be in real life it would been made that way in the first place. I think some people take for granted the marvels of animation. Cowboy Bebop is truly a gem on top on a pile of chewed up popsicle sticks that is known as anime. So much generic shit out there.. if they make it work i'll be glad, but if not then seriously fuck it. Hollywood needs to realize that ruin everything good. Especially with their damn remakes.. Oh yeah speaking of live action animes has anyone here heard of the remake of Akira? lets hope it's not a fail. Oh yeah i heard they were thinking of casting Leonardo Dicaprio as Akira. First off akira is barely in the original movie.. so wtf? There is a definite understanding that they changed the plot to accommodate a top actor and his on-screen time.
    yikes.
  • JDV · 7 months ago
Leonardo Dicaprio's production house and WB are producing the Akira movie and Leo is reportedly cast as Kaneda, NOT Akira.

Casshern was a Japanese production and Dragonball is just....ill conceived. I mean, how do you make a good 2 hour live action movie out of a property like Dragon Ball?

Cowboy Bebop has a better chance on the big screen, but keep your expectations at your soles.

I agree with Robert on this one, Spike and he resemble each other, they both smoke, they both mumble when they talk and if needed and their ass is on the line they can come to life and do some fantastic moves. I loved Cowboy Beebob and would like to see the movie made and in my opinion they really couldn't do much better, at least Keanu has the acting back ground to pull it off and an unknown may be taking a chance with his inexperiance.

Now the hard part will be casting Faye Valentine, filling her shoes with an actress that looks as good as she is and that can act is going to be the HARD part.

You guys forgot the Three Stooges remake starring Sean Penn, Jim Carrey and Benecio Del Toro. I was certain that was fake, until I found out it was not, at which point I realized that there is much that I don't understand about our universe.

    Nathan Fillion for Captain America.
  • tmccar20 · 7 months ago
Spike is quick, witty and kind of fluid to his character. Sure, Keanu does martial arts but he didn't three months before the matrix, and may look like him to, but he is not the actor for it because he does not have the essence of spike.
  • Chille · 7 months ago
Wow sorry completely missed it, feeling really dumb right now
  • Mathieu Lalonde · 7 months ago
If Shia is in anything other than the phonebook, i'm not interested!
  • Adam_Sweeney · 7 months ago
I'd dig Brea Grant as Harley Quinn. She has the quirkiness to nail the role.

I remember thinking "There's no way in hell Gus Van Sant is remaking 'Psycho' shot-for-shot!" I thought up until it released that it was just a cruel joke, it turns out I was both right and wrong: the film was real; except it was cruel.
