Film School Rejects: 10 Toys That Might As Well Get Their Own Film At This Point

Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?!?! Or how about an India-themed movie: SNAKES AND LADDERS! (that game was invented in India).....

why not a movie about chess? Let's watch the pawns and bishops fight each other to death!!! all dressed up as wooden statues, of course

Carmen Sandiego has already had an animated series (maybe even two!), a book series (at least one, at any rate), computer games, and (I kid you not) a kid-friendly trivia-and-puzzle-based game show based on it.

Never doubt the possibility of a Carmen Sandiego feature film. Heck, since I and every other '80s and '90s baby recalls it from their youth, I'm surprised it hasn't been made already. They already made Transformers, after all.

Fireball island was the sweetest f'n game i ever owned. I would go see a movie based on that game.

and I watched Teddy Ruxpin's cartoon as a young child, i'd probably check the movie out once.

i have never played fireball island, but after reading that description for the movie, not only would i go see the movie, but i would also go out and somehow acquire the game and force my friends to play it

Yes. That game is fantastic. Mostly because marbles rolling down plastic chutes to kill other players' pieces are involved. But does fun take much more than that? Not in any world I wanna live in.

As crazy as it sounds, the Jenga pitch actually seems like a decent concept

For some strange reason it really does. I'd like to see Monopoly ;o That would make a great movie 8)

I think the Rubik's cube movie should involve sado-masochistic creatures that come from another dimension to torment those that solve the cube. Each being from the other dimension has a definitive look that separates them from each other using games from the previous movies, you have one that has a multicoloured light brights sticking out of his head, to have one that has Hungry hippos attached to her hands, etc etc. This movie would be the one the entire series led up to, i.e., Avengers. We could call this movie Rubik's Raiser and make a 100 million on it!

I'm thinking My Buddy and Kid Sister. Here's the pitch a Brother and Sister grow up with the toys, get to old for them, The dolls come to life chase after the kids because of abandonment issues get sent to a toy collecter and then end up in some fanboys end up with them and have adventures in Fanboy's imagination and the Dolls live happily ever after until they come to life and Kill the fanboy cause He's too busy looking for waldo.

I just know jenga and rubiks cube, the other toys were childish and never heard before... I'm impressed with the plot of #4, and #2's jenga... The ideas were well thought of.. nice post!

Rubik's Cube is definitely a possibility. I don't why but this toy has the most potential to be made. Think about all the people who use mysterious boxes or "cubes" as focal points in their stories. I have feeling it will get made.

"Henry Selick directs, Tim Burton produces, we make it for $125 million, and everyone thinks that Tim Burton directed it." Oh man, hahahaha, that killed me.

And here I thought I was the only one with a ridiculously overactive imagination and possibly alcohol induced brain damage.

    God bless FSR.

"Rubik" was, unfortunately, a Saturday morning cartoon:

Where's Waldo is already in development ... there was an item on Pajiba last week. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1447982/

Actually, the "rubik's cube opens a portal to another dimension" idea has already been used in a movie. Go see Dude Where's My Car. And frankly, i wouldn't be surprised if a few of these ideas weren't actually greenlit. The fireball island idea pretty much sells itself. And it's not like this type of concept marketing has been tried before, both successfully ( The Pirates of the Caribbean ) and not so much (Haunted Mansion), which were conceived from theme park rides, of all things.
