  • Bethany P · 7 months ago
GREAT PULL. zero effect is one of my top 20 movies of all time.
  • Josh Roth · 7 months ago
I may be in the minority, but I LOVED the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy movie, and I've been praying for a sequel, Restaurant at the End of the Universe.

I was with you until My Best Friend's Wedding. How awesome would Big Trouble in Little China be even as a rewrite?!! And how could we not want Natalie "Frickin Sexy" Portman as an assassin follwing in her mentor's footsteps.
  • steelydwill · 7 months ago
If they made a second Ronin, there are a ton of different directions they could go, and I'd watch just about any of them.

Holy Crap Rob, You got 7 out of 10 in my list of movies I have always thought were better than the reception they recieved at release. Sorry Buddy, I can't support you on ANY movie that stars Julia Roberts, and I have never seen the last two movies, but I can remedy that in a weeks time.

History of the World: Part 2 would gives us Hitler on Ice and Jews in Space. Sign me up!

I want that Buckaroo Banzai sequel.
  • Chuck · 7 months ago
I second this! And third... and forth...
  • ferreson · 7 months ago
I second the praise for Zero Effect. That is another totally underated film that is soo good, and I'd say there could be room for a sequel in that material. I also think The Professional sequel would be a great idea too. Right on.

Although, one of your honorable mentions, Trainspotting sequel, might violate your rules since Danny Boyle has talked about how he actually is wanting to do that follow-up.

I'm really glad they didn't a Professional sequel. That movie rocks on its' own.
  • jack2jack · 7 months ago
Take a look at the French version of La Femme Nikita. It could be what Natalie's charcter would turn into. It makes you wonder why they cast Bridgette Fonda in the American version versus Angelia Jolie.
  • Dan · 7 months ago
Don't worry, I like My Best Friends Wedding too.
  • djjeffhall · 7 months ago
Well, Buckaroo Banzai is on the top of my list and has been for years.
  • The_Kid · 7 months ago
I'm lovin your idea for the Leon the Professional sequel I'd go see it. I'd also go see a new Big Trouble in Little China sequel watch Death Proof and you see that Kurt Russel still has it to pull of those type of characters.
  • Kenny · 7 months ago
Maybe I'm going with a little more mainstream of a movie than most of those, but what about Master and Commander? That was totally set up to have a sequel, but I haven't heard anything about one happening.
  • blinky · 7 months ago
How about Top Ten Movies that need to be remade? My number one is Forbidden Planet but only if Ridley Scott or Spielberg directs.
  • Tbag · 7 months ago
I know it's already a sequel but Chronicals of Riddick deserved a follow up. Vin Diesels best role to date
  • jack2jack · 7 months ago
He's going back to Riddick. Vin thinks there is still a viable story with the franchise
  • gooso · 7 months ago
"The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH OMG
  • Mike · 7 months ago
i'm with josh roth, more H2G2 please.
  • Voltron · 7 months ago
the premise you put for Natalie Portman's character is genius!!! wish someone would pitch them that, with you getting the credit, of course.
  • Gopher · 7 months ago
I second History of The World and add South Park.
  • Chris · 7 months ago
Killer Klowns From Outer Space part 2! There's so much more that could be mined from that idea.
  • _Christopher_M · 7 months ago
Trainspotting 2 is happening....the novel Porno which has the guys meeting up years later while they get into the adult film industry...the original cast seems to be on board and Boyle is more than likely directing it...expect it being made in the next four or so years

Manhunter - YES (if mann could get rights to the character) Scarecrows - HELL YEAH! ( still waiting for the official DVD release, killing my VHS, will have to digitize soon! Special recommendation for From Beyond and Boys in Company C, loved them both and are now on DVD officially)

Zero Effect was very good, definitely deserves a sequel

    Bubba Ho-Tep 2

Great list - some wouldn't be for me but all in all a lot of what you mentioned would be prime for sequals. (note - sequals, not remakes)...

Another one you could potentially add to that list is "The Long Kiss Goodnight". Always thought there was more room to manouver with that character and Gina Davis / Sam Jackson were hilarious together.

Would love to see the prequal films to the original star wars made. For those that don't know, Star wars "A New Hope" is actually number 4 in the story, the first three dealing with how Vadar came about. Think they were talking about making them a few years ago but someone read George Lucas' script and laughed him out of the studio.

    /sarcasm off

Léon aka The Professional (1994)- There is no need for a sequel, but to only make cash. If Luc Besson does not write & direct, you're looking for trouble. And I'm sorry, but the dude who directed Taken is not Luc Besson, he's good, but he's not Luc.

Tango & Cash (1989)- No shit this movie should've got a sequel. I feel you on this this, but...I smell direct-to-video from this one with some no name actors trying to mimic Stallone and Russell. Dumb and Dumber-er, anyone?

Manhunter- Thank Brett "fucking" Ratner for this cause. You will NEVER see a sequel to this movie. Ever.

Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins (1985)- okay movie, but it's too forgotten that anyone would remember this movie to have a sequel. Hitting the reset button would be more like it. Ask anyone who is, what, 23 years old, say have you seen Remo Williams? They say no but ask you have you seen Transformers?

Big Trouble in Little China- Sequel? No. Remake? Possible. Hollywood hasn't sucked the blood out of all the originals yet. Be aware.

My Best Friends Wedding- Well, this would've been funny years ago, wait, this was years ago. Thanks to so many rip-offs and clones of these kinds of movies, they come out at least twice a month.

Time Bandits- I wouldn't even touch that.

Zero Effect- I'll always like Ben Stiller, but I wouldn't make a sequel to this. It'll just defeat the purpose of the first movie. That like saying Cable Guy was good, man, I wish they would come out with part 2 to that one.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang- Not too many people know about this movie or Shane Black. So why make another movie to a sequel for a movie that only a hand full of people will only see?
  • NotEd · 7 months ago
I have to agree with this one as well. Buckaroo Banzai needs a sequel.

    Napoleon Dynamite.

How about Miami Blues? The books follow the cop but the criminal could get a prequil.

How about Small soldures? that idea can be done to it's potential.

Plenty more will come to mind
